Patchwork Blankie, Complete!

My nephew arrived 1-1/2 days after I tied the final tie on his Patchwork Blankie.  It's now been delivered!

My sister, Jennifer, chose the pattern once we learned that she was having a boy.  I love how it's not a typical baby blanket, but very much a blankie for a little boy.  We upsized the pattern from 36 blocks square to 42 blocks square--good thing we did; my nephew was 9 lbs. 11 oz at birth!

The big modification to this project is the applied I-cord edging.  The pattern called for a single row of single crochet.  That just didn't hold down the curl of the stockinette blocks.  The applied I-cord keeps the curl down and makes for a much more "finished" look to the edge.

I'm typing this blog post at my sister's house; little "E" is snoozing in his Boppie in the room.  I'll post another photo in a protected post.  :)
